Anything that is holding you back and keeping you from your day-to-day commitments and responsibilities is an "addiction". If you can admit that the addiction is more powerful than you, then you have a problem and you've made the first step.

Healing
Healing comes in many forms but it can come from apologizing for the wrongs we have caused. "Although apology cards are hard to find, apologies are frequently needed in our relationships. Apologizing is a biblical action. Jesus instructed His followers to make things right with those we've offended. Apologies can be hard to make because it takes a spirit of humility to admit our mistakes, which may not come naturally for us. But taking responsibility for how we were wrong in a situation can bring healing and restoration to a relationship." Anne Cetas
I recently had to say I was sorry to my husband for offending him even though I felt he offended me first. However, it is constantly a surprise to me when I ask for forgiveness for my part how humility takes over and heals the relationship enough to bring restoration. Its at that point that the other individual is given over to God to be dealt with. We can't bring the other person to say they are sorry, only God can teach this act of forgiveness and humility. However, at times this lesson can come at a cost.
